Expression of Interest

Dear Dance Central Families,

I would love to share an exciting opportunity with you regarding NZAMD Ballet Examinations, and begin gathering interest from students who may wish to participate.

NZAMD is the syllabus I currently teach during my daytime work at St. Andrews College, and I have seen first-hand how beneficial it is for students. It develops strong technique while also encouraging musicality, confidence, and performance quality. I have found it works beautifully alongside the BBO syllabus we already offer, complementing and strengthening students’ overall training.

A current advantage is that Bbodance cross-credits with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. This means students are building transferable skills across recognised systems, supporting their long-term dance development without unnecessary duplication.

However, NZAMD also offers additional opportunities such as a Scholarship Weekend, where students can gain valuable exposure, take part in workshops, and be considered for cash scholarships and further training opportunities.  Only NZAMD examiners can nominate candidates for scholarship weekend, so participating in the exam is the first stepping stone.

Upcoming Exam Opportunity

I am hoping to enter students for their first NZAMD ballet exam (Elementary level), which is planned to take place between July 1st–6th.

To be eligible, students need to be at least 13 years old by 31st December this year. This is the starting level for this syllabus, and students must complete Elementary before progressing to higher levels in future years and be considered for scholarships.

The good news is that students have already been learning this work in our Friday Open Class, and they are making really strong progress. It’s all coming together well, and I feel confident that those who are interested will be well-prepared in time for the exam.

The cost for the Elementary exam is $93.00, closing date 10th June 2026

Exams can be a really positive experience for students, helping them to:

  • Build confidence

  • Work towards a clear and rewarding goal

  • Receive helpful feedback from an external examiner

Expression of Interest

At this stage, I am simply gathering interest to see who might like to:

  • Work towards the NZAMD Elementary exam

  • Sit the exam in July

  • Learn more about what is involved

There is no obligation at this point—this is just an opportunity to explore whether this pathway feels like the right fit for your child. I am very happy to guide you and answer any questions along the way.

If you are interested, please reply to this email or register your interest via the link below:

I look forward to seeing who may be excited to take on this opportunity!

Warm regards,
Sharon
